Have you done the wing mirrors? You could get a bit in behind the glass. Make some earplugs out of what's left in case you find a new noise!

After thinking about it for over a year I made a start on making a set of rock/tree sliders for my 110 There's big ideas to incorporate mud flap extensions and brackets to fit the existing fold up steps after they've been modified. Got to straighten them first but the idea is that they can be unclipped when going off the tarmac and chucked in the back out of harms way.

Might do It's all starting from this, two pieces of 100mmx50mm 3mm channel approximately 73" long on the top edge. Click image to enlarge The reason for this steel is that I've had it knocking around for a few years, they were offcuts from a job I did so in effect "free" as they were costed in that job. Progress will be spasmodic, apart from the fact I'm making it up as I go along with whatever steel I have to hand, there's little things like the rest of life to contend with! The standoff bars that act as tree sliders will be 50mm box, I haven't got the facilities to bend tube consistantly and I've got a few lengths of box anyway, plus working with something square helps keep things square. |

^^Well, they certainly serve a purpose! Would you want to risk your steering components? An engine to TDi for!

^^^plus the this one has recovery points which i didnt have on the front! i think they are useful, not just for off roading! trundling down the county roads down here its really easy to contribute to road kill!!! rather a pheasant hit the guard than steering bars at 60mph!!!! lol plus and this is the decideing factor is.......
They look COOL My 109 thread my youtube channel |

Cheers for that kipperthedog, that gives me a bit more inspiration It's certainly shown me the way to go for the mounting points to the rear as I haven't taken the cills off yet. That chaps welding is a damn site better than mine, when it comes to welding up the tree lider bars I think I might just tack them in place and take them to a mates workshop and use his mig welder, my poor old Sip stick welder gets a little temperamental and keeps tripping the internal trip. It does give you time for a bit more cutting, have a smoke and make a coffee.

No, far from essential. Some people swear by them, some swear at them. Like so many things there are two polarised views, and most are probably fitted for cosmetic reasons. |
