What are you reading ?
I have just finished Hilary Mantel's 'Bring up the Bodies' which is the second installment of her Thomas Cromwell trilogy (Henry VIII's statesman/bullyboy depending on how you see him). The first volume 'Wolf Hall' was hard going but this one - which takes you as far as Anne Boleyn's downfall - was utterly unputdownable. I can't wait for the third. Don't think she's finished it yet.

Can anyone out there recommend a good read they've come across ?

I'm working my way through Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons series.
Last time I read them was nearly sixty years ago.
Nice to read 'low tech' stuff. Very Happy

David Thorne - "The Internet is A Playground"
I love the website: http://www.27bslash6.com/
and Wifey bought me the book for Xmas. A lot of the stuff is repeated from the website but it's still ridiculously funny. Well - to me with my twisted humour, that is Whistle

Also re-reading "Watching the English" by Kate Fox. Incredible how she takes apart every aspect of English culture (humour, cars, sex, pubs, homes etc.) and makes it understandable and insanely funny at the same time. Suitable for Brits... and should be required reading for non-Brits. Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Just finished the new James Herbert - Ash. Good but certainly not his best.

My work colleagues at Jorvik Viking Centre gave me Runelight by Joanne Harris as one of my leaving pressies so I will give that a go although it isn't usually my sort of thing ! Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

It sure is the worst thing known to man.
As for Mrs Greeni, she's just making pancakes, with ice cream and maple syrup Mr. Green

Thanks for the wishes.....but you know man-flu, it increases gravity and makes a settee almost impossible to remove from Thumbs Up
