Following on from the thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic16122.html regard the fluctuating temperature gauge I have added an additional ECU earth.
I would also like to add some additional earth wires to the engine and the white earth block that resides behind the coolant bottle. So I was thinking of. Cable from the starter bolt to the chassis on the drivers side An earth wire from the white earth block to the chassis And finally an earth from the earth wire on the passenger side chassis that comes from the battery and run the wire to the engine. Is there a good / preferred location on the engine to run the wire to ? 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

So far I have done an additional earth from the started bolt to the chassis where the body earth is and done and additional earth from the white plug behind the coolant expansion tank to the earth stud in the seat box on the drivers side.
Next will be another earth to the engine. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Whilst adding extra earthing is a good practice, as a sparky it can be very, very difficult to diagnose and track down electrical faults when there are parralel earths present.
Just give any sparky the 'heads up' if he needs to work on your vehicle as they won't be shown on any diagrams he may be referring to. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |
