Just be aware there seems to be, or have been, an issue with the firmware. People appear to have been experiencing issues with it stopping recording or freezing; and stories of batteries running out after relatively short periods of time.
There's a letter from GoPro themselves: https://gopro.zendesk.com/entries/22921872...ck-woodman Wouldn't puit me off getting one - just go in with eyes open... |

We've sold around 150 black editions and had 3 back, 2 with battery issues.
There's a few forums out there, like goprofanatics and goprouser where you'll find loads of hints and tips and do's and donts. What will be worth putting in here is what software you use to load and edit, anybody? |

Just watched that video - didn't realise before that the remote viewing only works if the unit isn't in record mode - that's disappointing. I thought I would be able to do both.

You can but only in resolutions 1440 and below, I can on mine anyway! Optimists say the glass is half full.. Pessimists say the glass is half empty.. Engineers say the glass is twice the size it needs to be! |

Jack[/quot You take your picture when you see it in real time, what you see on the app screen has already gone, the app screen has a delay, so don't use screen for live preview...only for setting up. Hope this answers your question, don't know if my explanation makes sense Optimists say the glass is half full.. Pessimists say the glass is half empty.. What's the actual battery issues of the returned ones? Real problem with battery life? Dead battery? Just a case of people expecting more? As for video editing. I've used a few and for the GoPro I've finally settled on Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12. I like Corel Video Studio Pro X5 however it doesn't handle 60fps like they say it does. Without going into too much detail, their video stretch coding is rubbish and slomo of 60fps is crap. Adobe Premiere Elements is ok, but don't like the interface. Windows Movie thingy is ok if you're not after anything special, but don't expect fantastic stuff or features from it. Then there's the top guns like Adobe Premiere (the full version) and Sony Vegas. Very powerful, very expensive and probably overkill for the home user. Craig Rogers 2007 Puma 110 XS 2011 Evoque Coupe Dynamic Lux www.craigrogers.photography |

To be honest, one was fine once tried, we charged it from mains using the iphone apple plug. I think it's best not just rely on charging though a computer USB outlet. The other was just DOA, won't charge at all.
No answers yet from GoPro distributor Madison, as we haven't returned them yet |

For a GoPro Hero3 Black - what is the best option to take for the battery bacpac? The latest black one with the lcd display, or the previous generation which is silver with led display of power. The older version seems to have the advantage of being about use it to charge spare batteries, whereas the new one has an integrated battery which isn't swappable.
Does the newer one have any other advantages? e.g. smaller? etc cheers rob All opinions expressed in this posting are my own and are not necessarily those of someone who knows what they are talking about. |
