Hi Chalky, It was me, very pleased and they do plenty of Defenders so do a thorough job. Kev (I think), the technician was only too keen to talk me through what he was going to do, how it protects your Landrover and showed all the problem areas where mud accumulates and accelerates the rust. I got it done yesterday, it's still a bit tacky so not really had a good look but 1st impressions are very good. It only went where it was supposed to go also and where there was some overspray this was cleaned off. Basically they do exacly what they say they do, I made sure mine was as clean as possible before going so their time spent was rustproofing and not cleaning. Very pleased I will get some pictures once it's cured (it's shiny now) Finally a big thankyou for organising the group discount Chalky and Rustmaster. Oh and you get a neat hologram to stick above your tax disc, it's not very big and shows it has had a quality rustproof. (Listen to Mike on how to put it on because I screwed mine up, they are tamperproof so if you stick it don't pull it off if it's not square) Steve edit: i took my mountain bike, loads of single track, 2 hours out to a pub for a pint and sandwich. by the time i got back it was finished. nice day out. i got lost in the woods nearby but luckily took the tom tom in my rucksack. |

Just booked myself in for late October.
Nice one Chalky - this is something I wanted to do but couldn't really spur myself into action until you secured the discount. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

Guys,
thanks for all your positive response, I have spoke to Michael today, just needing to keep tabs on who is booked in and when we also need to tell him when booking that we are from this web site so he can honour the 20% discount. And yes there are spaces left as this will just run and run, he gas agreed to honour this until further notice, I'd justlike to say thanks again for all your positive input and taking advantage of this offer. I think I'm going to do another one soon for the rear heavy duty corner bumperettes with correct bolt holes for the TDCi DEFENDER. Let me know DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN |

What are the main things I should ask Michael to specifically cover. I'm sure that his standard approach is pretty thorough but are there any specific things I should ask him to pay special attention to? One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

Rustmaster know the Defender well so it is doubtful they will miss much.
I have posted a list of 'must be squirted into' somewhere in the rustproofing threads. The rear crossmember is a must. It is multi-layered and so easy to miss a bit. If you stick your finger into the ends of the crossmember you will find a blind pocket, ideal to clog with mud. Make sure this is done. Chassis legs behind the front wheels, both inside & out. Remove the rubber jacking point bungs in the front of the chassis so good access can be gained. remove the two grommets by the windscreen wipers & ensure they are squirted into. This will protect the top of the bulkhead. Under the bonnet on the bulkhead is a black paper round sticker. punch a hole through the paper to reveal a hole. This gives additional access to the bulkheaed. The door pillars need a good squirt. Access is from underneath. squirt inside the side bars I removed the door trims from all doors so good access can be gained. Not really nessasary but I am fussy. I also put standard waxoil right across the bottom of the doors on the inside as they are now steel. Whilst the door trims were removed, I also removed the rubber seal between the door & the bottom of the glass, as the LR seal does not fit too well & will allow loads of water in. I pugged it all up with mastic & re-fitted the rubber. I also removed the mud flaps & rear step before getting it done. Take some old clothes & hang about & watch. They don't mind at all. You can then be assured that everywhere has been done to your satisfaction. |

Do they have insurance? A friend of mine said they use a two post lift which he said is not safe to lift Land Rovers. Is this true? He said that with the rustproofing process the pads would get very slippery and the Land Rover could easily slip off.

That's a bit of a spurios first post DelD ?
I'm sure one of the forum members who have already taken advantage of this offer will confirm the type of lift used? I'm sure Michael will be the best person to speak to regarding his liability insurance ! Can you confirm that you are not a competitor casting doubt amongst the forum ! I mean where else would a deserning Defender owner go to have such a treatment lavishly applied to their pride and joy ? DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN |
