1995 Defender 110 300 Tdi SW Epsom Green

coolant loss

hi all had loss of coolant so had p gasket renewed now no coolant loss showing from expansion tank but this morn i had what looked like coolant on exhaust manifold but no sign off leaks and hoses fully secured any ideas

leaking out the bottom of the water pump gasket and dripping onto exhaust manifold? just very little so cant see the level drop.

tighten the bottom bolts Cheers

Had a similar problem once. My coolant level kept dropping and it ended up being the water pump gasket.

Lift the bonnet with the engine running and pull on the accelerator cable whilst looking at the water pump. You may see tiny drops of coolant splashing out. Or you may see coolant splashed around the engine bay where it has leaked from the water pump.

With mine I noticed tiny sprays of coolant coming out. If your going to the trouble of fitting a new gasket then you may as well fit a new pump while your at it.
