Mine groans all the time when turning left at low rpm. Right is quiet. Has been that way since day 1. No leaks, no low fluids.

Not sure if anyone will still see this thread... but the groaning, does it almost sound like a rubbing sound? Mine does the same thing but I thought it was a rubbing sounds from something being dry. Sounds like it may be this above though, as it only makes the sound at low speed, or stationary, and when turning left.

Did you ever find a fix?

Edit: Mines a Puma 2015 but maybe the same issues exist.

My td5 90 does it when turning left, even with a new power steering pump. Worth taking it to the dealer though as my 2015 110 was silent 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

My 64 plate has done it from the start when cold when spinning from straight to lock. Been in three or four times and no one has a clue what it is.

I know that I may be far from the cause but I've had to sort out my ex-wife's Fiesta with a very noisy PAS system. It was constantly getting air in and when switched off would spew out frothy fluid. What that came down to was the lad that had fitted a replacement pump was a little lax, I tightened the pressure pipe from the pump by a quarter turn and replaced a hose clip on the return. it works perfectly now. I'd be having a look at the tightness of all the pipe connections right up to the reservoir, even though it may not leak fluid it might be enough to allow air in, even within the steering box.
