Finally managed to get a TD5 90 to join my Double Cab
![]() 51 plate County SW, Epsom Green 57,000 on the clock and (this is true) one lady owner. Ideal for what I want, not pristine but overall in good condition. Only immediate job is to get the clutch/thrust bearing sorted out, anybody know a good indy local to Taunton who can do the job at a reasonable cost ? Pictures to follow when I pick it up later this week. Pictures as soon as I pick it up later this week
![]() For what I was looking for it fits the bill perfectly. The only mods I could fine were Exmoor seats, both fronts and the four rears (which are coming out - watch the for sale listings), lockable cubby box and a decent radio. Needs work but this is my off road project and things will be added that I need (winch is certainly on the list after this weekends exploits, I will keep the winch on the 110 as well as that will still be used off road !). Adrian Flux really came up trumps on insurance especially as I had no no claims bonues on this one, under £300 with two drivers and off road cover. It is limited mileage (7500) but that should be plenty for my needs. I never realised the sound of a standard TD5 was so good, it will be much better after the cat is removed and straight thru centre pipe added ![]() It was worth the wait and I am realy pleased I didn't go for a more expensive specimen. Thanks guys
![]() There was a 2003 90 with a decat, straight thru pipe and EGR removed at this weekends event and it sounded the dogs ![]() It went like a scalded cat as well but I never got the chance to talk to the owner to find out exactly what he had done. if the release bearing noisy then they all do that! only fix is to soak it for a few months in oil prior to fitting
well done on the td5, take the pressure off the DC for a while |

Thanks for that tip ![]() I think one of the main problems with the vehicle is that it has not really been used, there were a lot of big cobwebs in the cab - I hate spiders ![]() I was looking at the cost of replacing the rear cross member, I have recovered now ![]() I think I will just put a new chassis on when needed, a lot more cost effective ![]() Collect at 5pm Thursday ![]() Bob 2015 Jaguar XE240 R Sport - goes like ....... !! 2013 Defender 90 CSW - sold 2009 Defender 110 Double Cab - sold 2001 TD5 90 CSW - offroad project - sold to a forum member 2011 Porsche Boxster - for the sunny days ! |

Shouldn't be anywhere near needing a new cross member surely?
![]() Release bearing, if it's just noisy I'd leave it, they really do all do that. Most only do it from cold. |
