I believe it is a square wave pulse so I think to measure it properly you would need an oscilloscope. 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Sorry Grafty99 I did not make it clear in my original post but I was measuring the signal with an ocilloscope. I have come to the conclusion that the 1.2vdc is actualy correct and that I have to use the pull up circuit mentioned elswhere on the forum to get up to a 12vdc signal as an input into the standard VDO rev counter.
