Wales 2012 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 SW Alpine White
Lighting / Electrical Gremlin
While yesterday, in a big thunderstorm, I turned the blower on, to clear the misting windscreen...

The instrument cluster lights died, along with the lights on/off indicator and the clock light. Big Cry
But the centre console lights still work.
At the next garage I stopped to check the exterior lights... All are working 100%, except for the left rear tail light.

This morning I checked the fuses (all of them, under steering column) and they are also 100%.
All instruments in the cluster are working, along with all warning & turn signal lights, fog light indicator, TC, etc.

I'll be installing a new radio next week, so will then be able to do a good dig in that area.

I realise that there could be a perished wire around the blower switch, but hoping someone may have another solution from experience?

I have a full set of Wipac LED's & Trucklite headlights fitted... Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

UPDATE
So finally got the chance to install my upgrade HU, a Pioneer MVH-X560BT (with some issues... see here http://www.defender2.net/forum/post514796.html#514796), and check why my left hand side lights where out.
There were no loose nor shorting wires in the center console Question
Headed for the side light wiring...
I recently had connected the side light function on my Trucklite headlights, but that connection was 100%. Question
So back to the fuse box...
Was now triple checking the fuses and F11 looked ok. Changed fuse and still nothing Big Cry
Now being completely confused, I used a multimeter with a fuse fitted and got no reading...
Somehow the fuse holder contacts had opened up Shocked
Pinched it closed, reinserted original fuse and all lights were back on.

Oh the joys of Defender ownership Rolling with laughter Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

INDEED is the case...
Having lived and worked in the African bush for the last 20+ years.
One becomes a bit of a mechanic & sparky... Jack of all trades, master of none...
Had a Tdi 130 for many years. Bought 2nd hand and had endless electrical issues, I thought I'd cracked it.
But then bought a Puma in 2012 and Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry
Mechanically, no issues, but the electrics have tripled...
Start of the learning curve all over again...
Especially now with the new HU, swapped & tested wires over and over agian, but still no joy.

Really do miss the 'simplicity' of the series I, II & III's.
Could fix anything on them with a bit of wire & tape Bow down Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.
