Yes, well actually replaced the Tdi tub with a Td5 one (also without rear bulkhead) when we did the rebuild, so I already have the bigger td5 tank. However, we can't fit the Safari equip tank that goes under the wheel arch because the roll cage chassis mount in the back corner is in the way. We also put a Td5 seatbox on and the ECU and other electrics are currently under the driver's seat. Current plan is to move al that lot to behind the passenger seat, then mod the seat box so that we can fit a standard TDi tank under there. That will be a really cheap option. So that will be 65l + 45l. We want at least another 40l so we'll get a third tank custom made. There is actually quite a bit of space under a 90 but not yet decided exactly which bits to use! Lovely rebuild Gum, nice job Our Green 90 is in need of some TLC, just thinking about a plan......
Pam, would be interested to see how you go with the fuel tanks? one of the big downfalls with a 90 is the lack of range. |

Thanks A rebuild like that needs an awful lot of planning! More than I ever could have expected! And then there's all the little problems that occur along the way, which turn out to be rather big problems An engine to TDi for! "Land Rover- Proudly turning drivers into mechanics since 1948" |

It always seems to go like that ! I'll just do this, then this, and I may as well do this ...… And then you add up the hours that you've put into it There's over 500 hours on this rebuild Mind you, that's not as shocking as the cost of it An engine to TDi for!

Fantastic work GUM97 Is that Bonatti grey? If so then your rebuild is very similar to my galvanised rebuild here
http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic6892.html?highlight=bonatti (although I cheated and had someone else do it for me ) Mine was white originally.. But is now Bonatti grey.. WarPig- It's actually Stornoway Grey, and if I'm honest, it was actually seeing the rebuild of yours that made me dedcide to do mine An engine to TDi for!

Thanks WarPig, I think you went for the much easier option of having it done for you! If only I'd been so smart and thought of that before deciding to do it myself ! An engine to TDi for!

@Gum97
I wondered if Pom was referring to my silver roll cage in the pic I posted about my rebuild(s)- if they didn't read all the thread they might have thought mine was yours! If then then for my beautiful expedition cage (doubling as roof tent rack) being described that way - it is there for a reason, not for show Our blog - http://landytravels.com/ Yorkshire Off Road Club - http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net |
