it was the spigot bearing that was shot and yes the plan was to replace that. I think however the plan was to re-use the thrust bearing but while in pieces the thrust / slave are all going to be replaced.
looked like the second extension shaft got replaced without grease or the grease seal that seats under the plastic cap thing? the metal / aluminium casting that goes around the hi/lo lever was all bent too - damn numpties that worked on it before |

I think originally the thrust / slave were all going to be re-used but I suggested it get replaced just to be on the safe side while in pieces.
the spigot bearing was kinda oval shaped and they believe that got bished and bashed while putting the gearbox back together last time? |

If you are talking about a puma vehicle, then I assume ( maybe incorrectly, ) that you don't have an actual ( in the normal sense of the word) bleed nipple, that requires a spanner on hex flats.
See my post .... http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic33168.html Once you have worked out the bizarre bleed nipple function, it is a 10 min job by yourself, using the hose, bottle of fluid method. Get a snug fitting clear hose, around a metre or so, warm the end up in boiling water so it pushes onto the "nipple" much easier. Other end submerged in dot fluid in the bottle , then open the nipple, you can then just pump the pedal yourself, nice slow even strokes , regularly check the fluid level and top up as required. When the pipe is sending clear / clean fluid through into the bottle, close the nipple and clean up. That's how I do mine and it works just fine, though he Bum gravy appearance will return pretty rapidly. Cheers, Nick. "Procrastination is the thief of time" |

Hello,
I have just replaced by cluth fluid easily. I put a tube on the nipple and let it run out by gravity and filled up the reservoir once or twice. I let it run till the fluid was clear. Simple. David |
