The 2 I'm currently considering, to fit in a Mantec http://www.mantec.co.uk/images/products/fu...0A-BAr.jpg
The winch in the pic, a Warn, is too expensive for my wallet or self (solo) rescue needs. Both Goodwinch & Britpart are bridge winches, as the Warn is. Both the former are about the same price. If there are any other, better, I'd be glad to know. Are any sold by the site's sponsors? Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. What about Talon series of Superwinch. 100% waterproof, works 1m under water. Superwinch guarante www.newfoundland.gr

I've got a Talon 9.5 SR and it is an excellent winch. Used in anger quite a few times now and never had an issue.
The 90 is getting a Goodwinch 9.5TDS, on reputation they are also very good. I would steer clear of the s*****t winch if it is of the same quality as a lot of their other goods. You are best spending a bit more money on a better quality winch that you can rely on. No point having a winch stuck on the front if you are not sure it is going to work when you need it. Andrew at Defenderbits can get you a Goodwinch but don't expect a big discount as the margins are tight on them. I am happy with my 12k Lbs Goodwinch (not a bridge model) and has been used in anger a few times to recovery stuck rally cars from down banks. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Buy a goodwinch tds goldfish from David cheap but a bloody good winch I got rid of warn winches to get the tds winches my front one is built with a bow motor 2 on it

i am a strong believer in buy the best and only buy once.
what do you want the winch for? and how often are you going to use it? Britpart winches in my experience dont seem to last long. Talon ones looked good when i saw them on display in Croatia but i haven't seen any in use. Goodwinch - we used one as rear winch for Howlin Wolf for 2 seasons with a Bow2 motor and it never failed. pulled like hell. very cheap very reliable but slow - hence why we ran it on the rear where speed is not a critical but reliability and low down grunt is essential. Warn - i have 3 x 8274s, all tweaked and all expensive for what they are. main reason for running them is the speed you can get plus the fact spares - go to a comp and all my mates are running them so i can borrow as required. for the tds we never needed spares........ so do you buy a winch from a company that sells loads of products for which they have a not the best reputation or do you buy a winch from a company that specialises in them with an excellent reputation i suppose is the question. Visiting Defenderbits web site, they sell the Superwinch LP8500, which incl VAT is cheaper than Goldfish (& Britpart).
My use would be self-recovery, so only occasional. Of course having one I might want to use it more  Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Given a choice of any low-line winch, regardless of cost, I would buy (and indeed have) a Tds Goldfish.
It's nicely engineered and never fails. It's the one winch you can guarantee will work when you need it - even if it's sat idle for years. Si |

Now I have neither or any other winch for that fact but have had a look at goodwinch's next to warns and the most noticeable difference is that the chrome on the goodwinch isn't as thick as the warn and started rusting after a couple of months on the front or a vehicle. Russell

I replaced my stay bars with some made from stainless bar looks much better than the flaking chromed version, 1999 Defender TD5 110
