Re: Removing transfer lever on Puma
Remove carpet around tunnel
Lift up gaiter from around levers
Remove gear lever by uncliping at either side at the bottom
Pull off transfer knob, remove gaiter and gear lever
Remove foam
Undo the four torx head screws around transfer lever
Unclip the ball joint off the lever
Lift out

Hope this helps

Is replacement of the Transfer Lever as simple as this post implies?

I have just received an SVX one I purchased from a fellow forum member and was wondering if there is enough access from within the vehicle to disconnect/reconnect the linkages or does this have to be carried out underneath the vehicle where access is limited?

As Go Beyond stated Diesel Jim's link is just for the Gear Lever not Transfer Lever.

Any information would be gratefully received for any 'pitfalls' I may encounter before attempting the swap out? I could call the number above but my late dear-departed Mother always told me 'Not to talk to strangers.' Also if his phones are like mine I get enough cold callers as it is! I have also sent a 'pm' to Go Beyond.

Thank you. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Lots on at the moment.....You can see my knob anytime!!! Shocked Shocked Rolling with laughter

Probably still be in it's box though. Woodburner chimney/flue to sweep and new cowl to fit first. St Malo next week so probably won't get fitted this side of October. Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Hi Mal,

Thought I'd reply to your PM on here for the benefit of others.

As you've probably worked out, I wanted to know how to remove the transfer lever so that we could cover it in leather, however I have discovered it's not necessary to remove any of the under floor gubbins as the standard lever can just be pulled off !

I suspect you could do the same with your SVX lever (if you wanted to)
