I've just recently done the loom upgrade and what an impressive improvement, my head lights are now brighter then my genuine land rover spot lights, so I will be upgrading them now instead of my headlights.

I currently run 100 watt headlight bulbs and find the lights a fine, have bought the headlamp loom upgrade to preserve the switch but haven't had time to fit it yet. 2005 Td5 90 XS

They're only rubbish if they are poorly set up or maintained.
Mine has normal bulbs in Wipac crystal units and the upgrade loom, result is lights that are truly excellent. Total cost about £50 and no stupid f***ing LED things stuck on the front of the car ![]() |

Crystal wipacs and osram nightbreakers made a world of difference for me ! And I'm soon to fit the relay loom too I'm expecting a very crisp white light from it. I cannot recommend the crystals enough they really do turn the lights from candles to torches

Or even just get new Wipac Quadoptics. The lights on my new XS are so much better the 15+ year old Cibies on the soft top.
New Quadoptics can be had from about £14 each. ![]() ![]() |

Crystals with Philips bulbs for me, very good upgrade.
No doubt the loom upgrade would improve things but I've not done it myself. |

Crystals: http://www.paddockspares.com/pm678-wipac-c...ralia.html
Philips bulbs (H4size) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PHILIPS-X-TREME-...3a975b6378 Possible new headlight wiring kit: http://www.paddockspares.com/boomslang-per...-loom.html The headlight wiring kit is new, just noticed it myself just looking on your behalf. It does look good but I'm impressed with just Crystals and bulbs on mine. The wiring loom kit would up the voltage a little possibly as there are voltage drop issues with standard wiring in some cases. Best to check that manually. |

A more significant benefit of the harness upgrade is that it prevents the otherwise inevitable failure of either the main light switch or the dip switch, which always happens at the worst possible moment.

Osram are the ones I have with crystals and home produced loom. That is a very very good price for the bulbs.
