Lovely looking truck! Although I would leave the roof as it is, too much black could spoil it! An engine to TDi for!

Been a few more weeks and due to rain mostly, I've not had much time to do stuff on the Defender, however I finished off the interior of the rear tub and bulkhead tonight.

Bought myself a roll of gel backed carpet from eBay in dark charcoal, was about £15. A can of adhesive spray I already had but they're dirt cheap too. Made some cardboard templates for the bulkhead sides where it meets the curves and gradually it came together.

I have also done the front front of the bulkhead too, so it appears nicer in the cabin area.

Here's the before shot, in January 2012 when I bought it.

And here it is today, much nicer inside, a far cry from the ex army model I originally had in mind (too much of a perfectionist!) You can see the lovely La Salle headlining, Alpine speakers, MUD Side panels and nets with LED lights and curry hooks and the new OE heated front seats in half leather.

Ooooohhh Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Nice job. Would you care to share a link to the eBay item, if it still exists?

This is the one I bought. I just realised that I didn't use it the way it was intended! Gel backed carpets are supposed to be heated with a heat gun to mould them into shape, and then presumably stuck down.

With the plastic backing it was too stiff so I simply peeled it off, making the carpet easy to shape, and then use the spray glue to hold it down. The end result is the same though.

I actually wanted black carpet, but when it arrived and it was this charcoal colour I thought,'why not?'. It actually looks really good as a contrast to the black of the MUD side panels, it might have been too dark if it was all jet black.

This stuff has the finish of those hard wearing carpet tiles you can buy at DIY stores, so it's going to be very durable and hard wearing.

That carpeting looks really good, been trying to figure out how I was going to finish the curved panels below the Mud panels on mine Cool
Does anyone know if those plastic rear speaker pods that fit behind the rear lights can be made to fit with the Mud panels? 2005 TD5 90 Hard Top

Nice link! Thanks. Although I've yet to soundproof the interior, add carpet the panels under my MUD Side panels and Checkerplate the rear bulkhead.

Wont need that much as most isnt visible under then Genunine rear load mat so I bought this faulty OEM carpet...

The fault seam could be anywhere so they send you 2. Can't grumble. Will be more than I need! Thumbs Up "Big green" 2000 Td5 90 IRB Developments modified (2004-2011)

The rain has stopped! Very Happy

I got to fit my latest bolt on....nice shiny alloy steering guard. Was SO easy, not as fiddly as some on here made out it might be.
