You can check the stat opening temp using some hot water and a thermometer in a pan. Useful for your own peace of mind that the stat is fully opening at the correct temperature. |

The standard temp gauge on a 300tdi is rubbish. Dont go by the temps as they are wildly inaccurate. Use a dedicated gauge or MadMan if you can.

Its probably the switch on the end of the barrel. Pop the steering column surround and binnacle off and you can access the switch. Have a feel and see if its loose. If it is, you just have to unscr ... |

Its a really simple job on a 300tdi, but you will have to remove the crank bolt and pulley. Land Rover Toolbox has the instruction videos on his YouTube channel.
