I use it to stop the discs corroding on a couple of cars that dont get driven that much. It stops them going all rusty.
It works really well (for this).

I honestly don't know the answer to that.

All I can think of is ensuring the crossover is matched. So that the correct high/mid/low frequencies are send to the sub etc.
