| What would you recommend for a single axle caravan, approx 1300kg being pulled by a defender 90 please? |

| It does sound like a head gasket. Same thing happened to mine almost exactly as you described it. |

| I'm also wondering if it may be linked to my whistling noise when the turbo kicks in. I'm still getting 1 bar of boost but also a whistle, like air escaping. All Hoses look to be OK though. |

I'm thinking uj may be on its way out.
Drive line oils, both axles were changed recently. Not sure about gear/transfer box oils.
Is there any other oils to check or replace? |

Yeah, 1996 300tdi, originally a hard top, but converted to have rear windows/seats now. |

It's just for an old caravan, so just the usual ,brakes, indicators, side lights etc. No charging unit or anything like that. |

Check boost pressure from inlet manifold if possible, this will show how much boost the engine is receiving and may point to a leak from turbo pipes or even intercooler leaking from the matrix
