Hi! I'm from south Brazil
(sorry for the bad english) Well, I recently bought a new LR Defender 90 CSW PUMA 2.4. In the first 10000km maintence (here is in 10000 km because of the poor quality diesel, lot of sulfur) the mechanics use a STP fuel sistem cleaner, for diesel sistems, in the Europe, you also do it? And, what type of motor oil you use for the new Puma 2.4? Here we use the Motul 8100 - 5w30 fully sintetic |

Ditec, our local stealer uses Mobil 1 "approved "by Brazil. And also the technicians say it is a lot better than the LR spec (Ford WSS-M2C913-B).......b**l sh**t.
You can probably get YPF Fuel Economy 5W/30. I would stick with this one unless LR states otherwise. Puma 110" SW ............................................................. Earth first. Other planets later |

Hi Gabriel,
Motul 8100 5W-30 appears to comply with STANDARDS ACEA A5 / B5 and APPROVALS API SL / CF But not with the WSS-M2C913-B or WSS-M2C921-A (High sulphur content diesel) as stated in the maintenance manual. Accordingly, a Motul SPECIFIC FORD 913B 5W30 should be used (if you like to stick with Motul). You two are right.
When i look for the correct oil, i found the Motul SPECIFIC FORD 913B 5W30, in the first inspection, in my dealer they show me an bottle of Motul 8100, which I looked at, and realise that isn't meet whith LR Spec. But, lets see ehat happens, like I said they use this motul 8100, in all LR diesel models here. The Castrol TXT Softec Plus A1 (which meet the LR spec), is the original oil used by LR??? Thanks a lot for the information |

Gabriel,
Check the fuel consumption. When I used Mobil 1 (dealers put it) my consumption increased from more than 9 km/lt to 8 km/lt. That was one of the main reasons to do not accept again other that the specified oil. Currently I use Liquimoly Leichlauf Special (5W 30)- Quite expensive compared with others but I paid it with the low fuel consumption. LR manual does not indicates any specific supplier for motor oil. Cheers! Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |

Probably the factory fill is Castrol Magnatec 5w/30.
YPF is a lot cheaper and meets LR (Ford) specs. http://www.castrol.com/castrol/sectiongene...Id=7048319 Puma 110" SW ............................................................. Earth first. Other planets later |
