Over the past couple of weeks I have seen a LOT of Defenders heading out of solihull, so they are going somewhere. Some are obviously export models, but not all... 2011 110 USW

Rumors are that 2.2DPF currently has CO2 emissions above 2.4 engine and they try to fix that one. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

Just spoken to my dealer and my new DC XS is being prepped up as I speak, I collect it next Thursday (24/11/11). A tad excited! Just to add, I placed the order in the first week of August, was promised it in October, but the dealer said there were a few issues regarding delivery at that time! So he promised the 3rd week in November, he called today to say she had just arrived, so not too bad. Orkney Grey 2.2 Double Cab if anyone's interested, A Bar, spots on the bar, tow hitch, RAI, protection plate (Sump ect) and all the other bits the XS comes with. My seven year old son is beside himself with excitement!

call me biased but from the photos I saw on here somewhere I think the fuel cap retention cable looks terrible and the engine some how doesn't look so good.
technically / mechanically it may well be an improvement? - probably not (ignoring emmisions). just cheaper to remove the number of variants ford have on offer. |

“… just confirmed with my dealer”
Which dealer? I got a great price for my 2.4 delivered end of August by means of a “Dutch Auction” between Hammonds and Hunters (Hunters were cheaper). STILL not sure whether or not I should have held out for a 2.2, I don’t suppose a definitive answer will be known for a couple of years. The service guys (I take what salespeople say with a pinch of salt, they’re just there to take as many orders as possible) reckoned: 1) The 2.2, being just a stop-gap to meet Euro 5 emissions until the end of Defender, is pretty much an unknown quantity as far as using it in a Land Rover goes; 2) Defender will run out LONG before 2015.
