@lightning

Question, just got my 110 , it came with factory side steps that I want to remove. Is it fair to say that, all it takes, is the removal of the two brackets from each side (4 bolts )?? Also is it ok to be under the vehicle with the air suspension at max height? Reason I ask is , read that the vehicle can lower without warning. Any input, much appreciated

Personally I wouldn’t chance it, but leaving the doors open I think prevents it from dropping or at least it used to work on the Disco. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

lt depends on whether the person who fitted the side steps, installed the two small bolts in the side of each bracket.

To do this, requires the plastic sill and other parts to be removed. And to remove the brackets you'll have to pull all this off again.

Hopefully they will have done as l did, and just fitted the two large bolts, try removing the two bolts from the bottom of one of the brackets. lf the bracket comes away from the car, you're in luck.

@lightning

Thx for replying,

Yes I think I will test soon. Sure hope it’s that simple , I do not want to start ripping plastic off!
What is even the purpose for the smaller screws u speak of?

Factory/ Dealer fitted steps will have all bolts fitted without doubt.
You would have to pull off your cills and some arch trims to get to bolts.
Mudflaps too if you have them.
I would live with the steps .. you may grow to like them

I just can’t understand the logic in all that. When all that would and should be needed to do, is unbolt the bolts that support the brackets? As illustrated in this picture by @lightning what roll do the mudflaps etc… have to do with them?

Look at the Land Rover instructions??
You can’t unbolt the brackets without removing lots of trim.

Lightning did a self install and chose to leave bolts out
A good workaround.

Your car is not the same

You can remove steps. You cannot remove the brackets unless you take off cills , arches, flaps.

So I received my aftermarket steps for the 110. As with the LR kit you need to remove all the trims etc to fit the horizontal bolts into the brackets. I had a look at the Urban steps and instructions and they only use the 2 larger bolts up into the sills per bracket to save the trim removal exercise. So would you risk fitting these like Urban or remove everything? Andy

I fitted aftermarket steps.
I never removed any trim whatsoever.
I found the positions and simply cut squares out with a multi tool.
So simple. Very easy task
Fitted using vertical bolts only and rock solid.
I have no concerns at all
