Sounds like he didn’t look at his blind spot indicators on the mirrors before manoeuvring L663 90ht

A slightly different issue but nevertheless related to visibility is the lack of visible lighting on the sides of the rear wings.
I was reversing out of a small drive onto a busy road and a driver coming along the road commented that I was almost invisible side on. Looking at other cars, rear lights typically wrap around the side to give side on visibility. Seems an odd design fault in 2021. Last edited by martinf on 20th Dec 2021 4:04pm. The only blind spot I notice is the one caused by the door mirrors. Combined with the thick A post, it’s quite a large area you can’t see. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Can’t say I’ve had much issues with blind spots, the B-pillars are quite thick. Overall visibility seems pretty decent. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

Rule 201 says "When using a driveway, reverse in and drive out if you can."

Just got my defender, only complaint I have with the Blindspot monitoring is the lack of no sound to alert the driver of another vehicle. Only lights

Blind spot on the 90HT (and I guess 110HT) is huge. Blind spot indicators are a good send. Do you know whether it was a HT.

If you leave Blind Spot Assist on you will get a steering correction and audible alert if you attempt a lane change with another vehicle in the blind spot monitoring area. On UK motorways if there was an audible alert with blind spot monitoring it would be sounding off continuously! |

Yes, I am just use to getting audible sound when u turn on signal prior to lane change, if there is a vehicle on your side. It seems here that u have to actually engage in the lane change prior… is this correct? |

Ever since I first saw the pre production Defender I thought the rear lights were a safety concern for two reasons. The recess design holds dirt and snow that doesn't melt because LEDs don't produce heat and secondly they don't wrap around the body to give any light output to side of vehicle. I think all Defenders should have the US style side markers for this reason.

l've got a 90 HT and have had no issues with "blind spots" However l drove a van for 14 years so am used to vehicles of this type.
You just have to take more care when driving it. |
