Extensive corrosion on LED Spot Lights
Hi Everyone,

My 10 year old LED driving lights are in very poor condition (and I've never lived by the sea!). The pictures were before I started cleaning, a good deal more power coat has fallen off. Fortunately the fins on the back of the JW Speaker ones aren't too bad.

Any suggestions for a treatment regime? Although I've searched I can't find a product that will stabilise the corroded aluminium.

Many thanks in advance,

Peter

Sadly typical of modern, poorly-applied powder coat. All you can do really is replace them or clean them properly back to bare metal,.etch prime and paint.

Yes I agree. Probably poor prep. Happened to my driving and work lights.
I stripped, etch primed and painted.
They look okay but are already starting to peel/flake in some areas ☹️

They're only a few quid on ebay now to replace.

This stuff is good as part of the prep:

Also handy around the house for limescale removal...

Sadly that looks to be the result of cheap crap (even if they charge you a lot to buy them).

Aluminium would likely be better served being anodised as opposed to powder coated.

Look just like the rear worklights on my 110 did when I bought it. Ended up replacing for Auxbeam 5" Side shooters. Everyone raves about the auxbeam switch panels so I am hoping the lights are equally as good...

I'd not come across that before, thanks for the recommendation. Defender 11MY USW
