An happen when dampers are too long and allow the axle to drop too much when it articulates. Hence some fit dislocation cones, so they guide the spring back into the chassis perch. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Sounds like a bit of a mismatch between shocks and springs. This can happen on full articulation if the shock allows more down travel than the distance the spring can extend cause it to dislocate. It shouldn’t happen in normal driving. Usually a relocation cone would be fitted so spring goes back on the seat. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I jacked the body up and the spring came loose just @ when the road wheel was clear of the deck, I just put it in place and lowered the jack, I guess dislocation / relocation cones are the next step, I am now wondering if it is a standard spring with longer shocks for some reason, as it is a little lower at the back than the front, thanks for all the suggestions

Thanks for the link. No spacers on the rear and spring height shows no lift, front shows over 2” lift, is it possible that someone has fitted the front springs on the rear and rears on the front? All components are new and bright yellow but I don’t see any numbers or makers names on them.

Lots of options on springs, depends what the vehicle has been doing in its life. If it ever have a winch and/or bullbar on, a person may well have put different springs on the front.
As for the rear springs falling out. You could change the shocks to a standard length. Change the spring to a longer one. Or even just retain the spring at the top, some thick heavy duty cable ties might do the job or a jubilee clip. Dislocation cones are only one option. |

The 2" lift caused that to happen. This is exactly why insurers have to be informed of changes to the factory specs. Mistakes are easily made and why should the insurance cover someone's incompetency. You purchased the vehicle recently. Anything that is not factory should raise a red flag. Your 2" lift is also not doing your moose test any good.. |

Moose test. give it a break. Would make no odds what so ever most likely. We also don't know what exactly has or hasn't been done. Nothing to get hysterical about at any rate. A standard 90 on standard shocks and springs is perfectly capable of popping the rear springs out, esp once it has done a few miles and the bushes all bedded in. The spring is retained at the bottom (or should be as standard), so it won't fall out, it will just not seat correctly, but will still work. |
