What colour is the smoke?
Also - it's not a Ford engine. 100% Land Rover! 1990 Defender 110 200TDI Camper - now converted to Td5 power |

You can rule this out straight away, there is nothing Ford about the TD5 engine. Perhaps you have a TDCi not a TD5 (2007 would be a very late TD5) in which case smoke on start up seems to be extremely common, probably normal. Figure out what you have and let us know! |

it's just grey smoke, not oil for sure, just wonder if it's burning off diesel that's gathering when it's sitting? Forgive me, I'm not familiar with the oily bits, just the driving bits

Can you confirm if it's. Td5 or tdci? A photo of the engine bay would confirm it, but if you look under the bonnet and the top of the engine looks like it has a cupholder built in then you have a tdci. 1990 Defender 110 200TDI Camper - now converted to Td5 power

Yep - Tdci. That's a Ford engine!
Not sure on these engines I'm afraid - maybe someone can move this to the correct section and you'll get some better input. 1990 Defender 110 200TDI Camper - now converted to Td5 power |

Thanks, that's a start then, assuming the 2.4 Ford Puma engine? I can ask in that bit of the forum
