Which type of towing electric socket(s) do you have? European or US?

It's a euro 2.2 puma with a 7 pin socket , the CTEK was 13 pin so I had to add an adapter to go from 13 to 7

A single 7 pin socket doesn't have a battery connection. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

thank you, so the 7 pin doesn't carry power? This is the CTEK adapter I mentioned. Is the cigarette socket an alternative and stays on after key is removed?

The photo you uploaded is the tow socket adapter (copy of mine, but anyway) but it requires the additional 7 pin (12S) socket with the extra wiring connections. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Thanks Martin, I uploaded the proper adapter, I mistakenly bought a 13 pin, then realized I have a 7 pin as you can see here and so I bought a 13 to 7 adapter. So you're saying that the tow socket doesn't carry any power to the battery and this can't be used? In my other cars I use the cigarette socket because it's always on, I wonder if in the 2.2 puma is always on as well.

That 7 pin socket is the 12N which only has lighting and no power (permanent or switched). 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

So it's a no go... thanks Martin. In the manual I see a 13 pins, it must have been an option?

There is indeed a 13 pin option (all tow electrics are accessories rather than factory fit) - I have it on my 2.2 Puma. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Do you know if the cigarette socket is always on in a 2.2 TDCi and can be used to maintain the battery?

Thank you guys, and wow I didn't know it was Martin that made those connectors, too bad I don't have that option, it would have been so helpful.
At this point the easiest way is to use the CTEK connector to the battery and have the pigtail come out of the seat, wondering how other users have done it. I was trying to avoid drilling holes. |
