New to here.
Hi all planning to put in an order for a 110 HSE D300 in the next 3 weeks, coming from a Discovery 4 HSE Lux that we have had for 9 years.

Bit of an open ended question but anything to be aware of or must haves, I have put a build together with matrix lights, cabin conditioner, detachable tow bar (towing horse trailers max weight 2.3mt), air suspension, cold climate pack and side steps.

Do you really need the D300?
I have just upgraded from an adequate 2020 D240 First Edition 110 to a D250 HSE 90 and it has more than adequate power and torque. Just thinking that you could save a few £££££’s with the lower HP version and maybe add the off-road pack with the rear ediff. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Welcome.

My D250 is really pokey. I can't see the need for the D300. Also, why the cabin conditioner? I always thought it a gimmick but happy to be convinced.

I would add solar glass and change the tow bar for a fixed multi height. Thumbs Up Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

Hi, thanks for your comments, it’s the wife’s car and she has early starts, in the winter she likes a warm car all defrosted before getting into it. I couldn’t find the option for a fixed multi height tow bar, that’s what we use now on the discovery.

Fixed multi height towbar is fitted at the dealers not the factory however it used to be on the configurator, might be worth speaking to the dealers about it. 110 D300 SE Tasman blue

I’ve just changed up to a D300 XD HSE from a coil sprung D250 SE. Main observations are the air suspension massively improves the body roll, and the D300 isn’t an awful lot quicker than the D250. It has much longer legs and pulls harder for longer, but certainly wont take off from a standstill any quicker, or have a quicker throttle response.

I've just ordered a D250 90 X-D HSE due to the fact you can't order air suspension on the D300 unless part of a pack.

Was very surprised at how little difference there was between the two, and am sure the D250 is/will be fine (currently have a D200 Velar R-D HSE).

I did expect there to be more standard on the 300 but nope, so the difference in price was £4070 for like for like spec. Didn't make sense

In our discovery we were towing 3.3mt, but we have changed trailers so now it will be 2.4mt max.

I forgot to say that, the D300 brakes are MUCH stronger than the D250, it’s really noticeable

Looking at the D250 brake spec, they are not too different from the discovery 4 HSE or am I mistaken?

I managed to squeal the wheels yesterday in a spritely take off at the crossroads. Surprised myself. D250 gets a thumbs up.

The brakes when towing would be a consideration.

My advice would be to brace yourself for price rises. I hope their delivery times have improved, but prices (and possibly even finance rates) are regularly increased significantly if you have to wait longer than 6 months.. So be prepared..

Also, look out for vegan steering wheels. They aren't very nice apparently. Opt for a leather one.

Also when considering the bigger brakes of the D300 bear in mind that the smallest wheels you can fit to them are 20” without modifications. You can get 20” Duratrac A/T Tyres quite easily (and some other brands make them that big) - thee is a much bigger choice of 18” wheels/ Tyres that will go onto the D250 with no brake modification Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
