If i look at the 2.4 exhaust diagram however its a completely different part and mounting system so not sure that could be the case?

The VIN check simply confirms its a 2014/15 model but doesnt seem to tell me much else?

Then your vin should be above CA444444!?

It could be that a previous owner has programmed the dpf out and it is only an alibi-shell/non working filter! Of course not knowing that these tests will be performed.

Adventurous.

Again since it was removed and professionally cleaned and read within normal back pressure its definitely not just an empty canister! haha

Not really sure what to bloody think anymore!

The "DPF" on an EU-spec vehicle incorporates a cat as well as a DPF. Is it possible for ROW spec 2.2 vehicles the canister only contains the cat?

Could be an option BlackWolf!

I looked over the downpipe for the various plugged holes but there werent any where I would have expected to see them if it was the same unit as this - https://www.lrworkshop.com/diagrams/land-r..._2.2tdci#1

So i am thinking BlackWolf is onto something and for whatever reason some defenders came out with the same part but just without a DPF.

So in my case it would seem the vehicle has a Cat only housed in something that looks almost the same as the DPF version but it was still a unique part for the 2.2

Now I can only assume that back in 2015 the emissions rules in Germany allowed for this? who knows....

I should have said 'similar' to what a 2.4 has, as the 2.4 only has a CAT.

I think it needs a very trained eye to be able to distinguish a CAT from a DPF (looking at the honeycomb), and for most, the DPF can be identified by the pressure tappings.

I read that you got the what you thought dpf cleaned. Was it cleaned on a dedicated DPF cleaner system? Because if so, I would have a good word with the garage who did and charged you for the work!! 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

I will be asking the question but was just looking into that and it seems most placed advertise as a multi-purpose cleaning process/system for DPF/CAT/SCR(?) which was also makes sense with what Blackwolf mentioned where they are sometimes even in the same housing anyway.

I am wondering if when he (mechanic) said it doesnt have a regen but kept calling it a DPF if its just a language barrier and easier to keep calling it what I call it!

Well, not wanting to brag, my 2012 passed it’s pollution check today. From the certificate the requirement here was for an opacity of <0.5 mine recorded 0.1. Happy days!

I assume it measures density of smoke, but what that correlates to I have no idea.

European laws are universal in their application to car regulations since about 2006 or therabouts. This is done through the certificate of conformity. It either slipped through somehow as an import or was at some point modified.

The part you showed to us is definately a cat with ceramic body (by NGK) and coated by Umicore. You will not be possible to get particle-readings like a "real" diesel-particle-filter.
But this knowledge does not help. I would clarify the equipment of the vehicle with a certified Land Rover workshop. After all, it is registered!
