Drivers Side Rear Relay Permanent 12v Feed (No Power)
Evening, firstly apologies for my lack of clarity in the title but I didn't know how else to word it.

Please correct me if I'm wrong; I'm pretty new to the electrical side of things on Defenders.

I thought that a purple cable was a permanent 12v feed.

I have three smaller cables running into this box (red, green and black) to give the device a permanent live.

When I run a voltmeter across the relay 0 Volts. I've been looking this evening and I'm wondering if I'm missing something or even a fuse. I've traced what I think is the wiring back under the driver's seat and checked all the fuses but nothing.

I'm wondering if anybody can point me in the right direction

If you are refering to the connector with the purple cable in the very right end of the defender, then it's fused under the seat (fuse 2). Sometimes the fuse is missing.

Please note: this is valid for a 2.4 PUMA.

Thanks, Max. I'll go on the hunt tomorrow night or if I get a chance in the morning. I'll report back with what I find but I'm 99% sure I checked all the fuses to be on the safe side. Confused

Yes it's a 2.4 PUMA Thumbs Up

Just been checking online and (fuse 2) is a relay. Is this correct and will it be a new relay if it's stuck? Sorry for the basic questions.

No it’s a fuse. There are no relays in this wire between the fuse box and its other end.
Looking into the box from the door side, it is the second one on the right side just “above” the 30 A fuse.

Good morning

the t-shaped lug with the purple wire is powered by the trailer socket fuse. the other wires that you saw are wires for speakers but which are not wired the terminal stops in the engine compartment

Evening and thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I spent sometime looking at the fuse you have suggested looks to be perfectly fine. I’m am slightly confused as when I’ve tested it with the voltmeter it’s showing 0v

I wouldn’t even know where to start looking next.

What exactly is showing 0 V? The Connector at the end or the fuse pin?

Hi MMR1988

The connector at the end and the fuse pin show 0 V. I wonder if an earth issue could be causing it as I've been checking and I believe the earth is located under the vehicle for this loom.

Again apologies as I'm new to the electric side of a defender.

For the earth distribution you can use almost everything that is connected to the frame as the car is connected to the earth point of the battery with a thick wire from the transfer box housing.

Have you checked both pins of the fuse? The fuse is feed directly from the big blue 100 A fuse on the very left. So it's very unlikely that there won't be 12 V at on the accessory fuse pin.

Just for the record: you can connect your voltage meter, which is set to DC, with the earth side directly to the battery earth and then use the tip on the red wire of the voltage meter to check the voltage.
