Nothings changed in my eyes, the vehicles will still have the green oval on them, the company will be JLR which the vast majority of people call them anyway.
The last LR I had that said Land Rover on the bonnet was a 2013 Fl2. I bought an Evoque in 2011, the only LR badge on it was on the boot lid. 2015 was the last time I bought a LR with a LR badge on the steering wheel, they’ve all said either Range Rover, Discovery or Defender for a few years. The transition has been happening for a long time, nothing new as far as I can see. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue |

Can’t wait to see Tata Range Rover, Tata Defender etc
Perhaps when Jim Ratcliffe registers the brand name, Jerry and the minions will scramble around trying to get it back. Jumped ship to reliability - Mitsubishi L200 Puma 90 XS - Sold D3 - 2.7 S x2 (both Sold) Freelander 2 HSE - Sold Freelander 1 - Sold Disco 2 - Sold |

You can buy one of those direct from Bowler, so not technically a Land Rover anyway!

I thought Bowler was now a wholly-owned subsidiary of JLR/TATA anyway.

The media has made this into something it’s not.
Defender preview event from 2019, apart from the grill there wasn’t a Land Rover badge to be seen. Click image to enlarge 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue |

Here’s my take on it.
Land Rover Execs have realised and finally accepted two things. 1. The New Defender is a really good car. 2. The New Defender is the wrong car, and is not the replacement for the old Defender, but as many recognise is more in line with the Discovery (or the leisure pillar of the 3 pillar branding), and as evidenced by Mr Ratcliffe’s success at launching what many consider a more worthy successor. So to save face and get the brand back on track, they retire the Land Rover name for a few years. The Discovery is quietly dropped as it has already been pretty much replaced and then they (re)introduce a new utilitarian vehicle on an impressively adaptable platform and call it the Land Rover. And we are back to where we should really have been 5 years ago. Remember, you read it here first………………. |

you heard it here first ...
THAT WON'T HAPPEN. JLR are moving away from that market, too many players. Also JLR want to go up-market, not down market. |

So drop Discovery, drop Jaguar when it fails again, then reintroduce a third pillar. Sounds plausible. |

definitely drop (or sell) Jaguar, I really don't understand why it wasn't gone when Aston Martin went.
