You just need a bigger hammer! theres no thread in the tube..
In fact the tube has quite a lot of clearance, its most likely stuck in the Panhard rod forging Good luck |

I would remove the panhard bracket off the chassis. You only need to remove the panhard bolt, and the nut that ties the bracket to the steering box. Should come off easily, as as said earlier, it is probably seized in the panhard rod bracket only.
Then you can use a hammer, which could make it worse as the bolt mushrooms in place. You might have to drill it out. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Thanks Dinnu, I did wonder if that might be the easiest approach and you’re right, it’s already started to mushroom over slightly

If the panhard bracket is out, you can hammer on the thread end of the bolt. All you need is to break the initial grip. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Thanks again Dinnu, removed the panhard rod and the seized bolt knocked out relatively easily with a few hits from a sledgehammer.
One further question, where it mounts to the steering box bolt, should there be a bush of some sort as the bolt is significantly smaller than the hole in the panhard rod? It doesn’t look so from the parts diagram but wanted to be sure before reassembling. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

No bush req, its a large clearance to allow for L/R tolerances.

Thanks Wasn’t one in there on removal but always worth checking in case of previous cowboy mechanics!
