Mileage display & electric windows switches illuminated
Hoping somebody can tell me if normal or not (I suspect not...)

But as I'm on the way of completing some jobs for my TD5, I've noticed the electric window switches seem to be illuminated when the vehicle is running but the lights stalks are off.

Similarly the mileage LCD display seems to also be illuminated green under same conditions.

The electric windows were aftermarket to this Landy, but unsure if somethings gone wrong when they were wired up or if it was always like this.

I am sure this is not 'normal' and my other TD5's only did this when the light stalks were switched on.

Mileage display is normal to illuminate with ignition (but rest of speedo will only illuminate with lights).

Window switches shouldnt illuminate with ignition though. Pin 6 on them should be red/orange wire which is the illumination amd fed from the sidelight circuit with all of the other switches.

Some/many/most aftermarket lift switches illuminate when the ignition is on and the lift system is live.

Not normal. According to the wiring diagram the switches have a bulb that is illuminated with the side light circuit on a red/orange wire. Have you checked the supplies with a meter? Are the switches genuine?

When you say "aftermarket" do you mean someone has retrofitted genuine Landrover parts to recreate a factory installation, or do you mean an aftermarket proprietary lift kit has been fitted?

Without knowing this it is hard to offer useful advice, but if it is the former than I would not expect the lift switches to be illuminated when the ignition is on and if the latter than I probably would.

Thanks for the replies all Thumbs Up

Yes sorry should have said the invoices are from Masai, so it's a non genuine kit, if I recall an Italian supplier so no original parts used.

The buttons are non-genuine, as it differs to original TD5 slightly (touch / feel / logo etc).

I've not checked anything myself as of yet with regards supplies.
