Replacing battery silently
The BBUS is triggered when the battery is disconnected. I know this because the current battery is on its way out and the BBUS has been triggering on start up due to voltage drop.

So, how to replace the battery silently? Or is just a case of using ear defenders? Fortunately we're out in the sticks so there's not any neighbours to annoy.

The process,

1. Loosen the battery terminal clamps ready to pull off
2. Turn the ignition on for 10 secs, but don’t start the vehicle
3. Turn off, and remove the negative battery terminal within 15 secs, ( hence why you loosen them first)

The alarm shouldn’t sound, if you do this correctly. But don’t take too long to remove the terminal, or it will re-arm,

Good luck,

Andy 👍

Only loosen the NEGATIVE terminal. If you do the positive one as well, you may find that your spanner is welded to any bit of the chassis it comes into contact with. It also gets very hot very quickly!

As above and remember to remove the negative first, then the live.

Then when fitting the new battery, live first then negative last.

A racket to spanner that has an insulated end and handle is best where possible, because as mentioned anything metal if you accidentally contact the live to any other metal item it’ll weld itself to it in seconds.
Plus sparks are not ideal in the area.

Don’t forget to connect the breather tube and check it’s clear.
