Still not turning on this morning and so I have disconnected the battery and I’ll have another look in half an hour or so.

Reconnecting the battery forced the unit to reset as expected and I had to set up the time/date and language etc.
The microphone still doesn’t work and I am repeating the firmware update (it takes a while) and if that doesn’t work I’ll try the new mike. |

My Kenwood DMX 5020DABS went to sleep during a firmware upgrade a few weeks ago, the unit was unresponsive. The advice from Kenwood was to disconnect the vehicle battery, download the firnware update to a different USB (or reformat the one you have), reconnect the USB to the unit, reconnect battery, see if download recommences. Thankfully this worked and the unit is fine.
You must make sure you upgrade the two firmware files in the correct order! |

I finally found time (when it stopped snowing) to try the new microphone and it works! I now need to route the cable through the dash, along the windscreen pillar and under the headlining!
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. |
