Electronics will kill us all..... Fault codes and non start.
2007 year 2.4 tdci Will not start. " fault codes P0642 sensor voltage A circuit . P2562 Turbo boost control position sensor A circuit.
Nither of those codes will clear. Only got a hawkeye reader.
Started running like a dog then not starting . All ECU and engine connectors cleaned,all fuses all good.

Fault code P0606 has occurred a couple of times,this says ECU is toast.

For no apparent reason started a dozen times and road tested ok Now not starting and 2 codes P0642 and P2562 that will not clear.
Turbo wiring has been done twice in 156000 miles last time 6k ago along with the 2 sensors on the fuel pump.
Live data on trying to start all appears to be in order 160 rpm and rail pressure 9800kpa.

Mechanics I am fine with its Electronics that stump me..

Any ideas.....? Its never over in my land rover.

I think you've got something affecting the sensor voltage circuit (P0642), the knock-on effect is the turbo position sensor is giving back the wrong value.

Not sure this would prevent start, but would certainly make running difficult - and aren't right.

I would start by unplugging all the devices on that sensor supply circuit - EGR valve, turbo and MAP sensor.

Clear the faults, if they stay cleared then one of those devices is to blame. Plug in one at a time and see which triggers the fault.

Or if the faults reappear immediately with them all unplugged then this suggests a loom fault, or less likely an internal ECU fault.

I would then look at unplugging the black ECU plug (the engine loom one) and checking continuity of pin E4 to the MAP or turbo actuator, and also for shorts to ground etc.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

For clarity, I do mean the MAP (manifold pressure) sensor on the engine not MAF (air intake flow) sensor on the air box.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Again thank you Martin.
Followed your advice cleared codes.
Looked at MAP sensor and yes small hole in it where label had come off.
Put the old one that I had kept back on starts runs test drive all good no Fault codes.
Can not believe it was literally staring me in the face.

Electronics always give me dread and a mental block. Its never over in my land rover.

Excellent. The big benefit of electronics is they monitor what’s going on and can report back what the problem is.

So here it was the old MAP dragging the sensor supply voltage down, triggering the first fault. The second fault triggered because the turbo actuator didn’t have enough voltage for the output position feedback signal to be sent at all, or be sensible.

The fault codes help out massively  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

I knew what I was doing with carburettor and distributor, there was so much less to go wrong. With the new electricery one misbehaving sensor can cause all sorts of chaos.
