Hi Will. Pretty sure the reservoir is just push fit on the Defender with ABS. Certainly the reservoir refurb kit (SJJ100351) does not include fixing pins which you'd expect to be present if you were replacing the reservoir...
Mind you, this is Land Rover... |

Thanks Geobloke - that makes sense as the genuine LR replacement kit I have does not include circlips or pins etc.
I just want sure. I can’t see anything obvious. Point taken about LR! I shall let you know… |

Stick up a how to as there aren't many on the brake master cylinder and as parts become less available refurb kits may be the way we have to go...

Okey dokey 👍
Took my Defender off the road in November due to the ABS modulator unit failing ☹️ Replaced that and noticed the reservoir seeping… The joys 😊 |

Methinks you are correct Geobloke I’ve just opened the service kit and no sign of any pins or clips. Click image to enlarge I had a closer look under the bonnet and it does look like a push fit. Looking at the contents of the kit, I think there’s an assumption the purchaser will be replacing/removing the master cylinder (which I don’t intend to) as the plastic ‘tube,’ rubber seal, and ‘o’ rings look surplus to my need - I’ll be using the reservoir, cap and two grommet seals. In which case it may not be worthy of a ‘how to!’ |

Ooooo look at you with your LR original parts refurb kit...
So it is in fact a full master cylinder refurb kit as those are the seals for the cylinder. Good to know |

Or do I buy empty JLR boxes so that I look like I’m buying genuine parts…
To be honest, a lot of the genuine parts aren’t much more expensive. They do tend to fit… I buy what I can afford at the time and absolutely recognise the value and specification of branded and non-branded OEM parts I can sell you the items I do not use in the ‘special’ JLR box for an over-inflated price! |

So you sell Genuine parts on eBay then as well I know what you mean. It does seem that pattern parts are coming up in price and down in quality. I too tend to buy genuine when I can. |
