I agree, I can’t see how the price can be justified.
Feels like an opportunistic money-making exercise. I like the idea of defender2.net doing something, if there’s enough interest, & Gaydon’s a good suggestion. |

I see there is now talk of having an ABBA tribute band as the entertainment for those camping at this event - so that's me definitely out! Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

I've just spent the weekend at Carfest and the bill included many well known acts but by far the best was the ABBA tribute act, Bjorn Again Darren

So the 75th event is now going to be at the Market Harbourough Show ground, on the same dates again next year (29th - 30thApril), is this another scam, or is it genuine, not sure if I trust the details, has anyone else booked, or seen it advertised ?

Ashby Andy[/quote] I’ve had several unfruitful searches to find the event officially linked to the Market Harborough showground, so until I see something more concrete I’ll be keeping my coins to myself. I hope it does come together though. |

Land Rover 75th Anniversary Gathering & Guinness World Record attempt at Market Harborough .. seems expensive and not officially Land Rover .. anyone heard any more about this is it happening, heard it was a 'scam' .. I'll be going to The National Museum at Gaydon on 7th 8th May as they are holding a gathering Cheers

The Gaydon event gets my vote
I don’t need to be taken advantage of by paying bonkers fees to take my pride and joy to make someone wealthy, donating a nominal sum to support defender2.net gives a far better return and a great place to meet like minded Defender owners Ride like you stole it!! I’ve been to all the 5 year S1 events and a few of the annual ones, been a member since the Club started in 1979. I’d love to take my S1 to the 75th but not sure my bad back would allow it.
It seems that 50-70 miles is enough before it gets too much. |

Click image to enlarge This is on Facebook:- www.facebook.com/events/market-harborough-...8585462179 However, I can't find a website so this in itself makes me suspicious. Somebody mentioned the name "Tom" early in this thread. I am not connected in this Guinness World Records attempt whatsoever! My only link to GWR was back in 2004 when myself and friends established the "Largest Parade of Land Rover Vehicles" at Towcester Racecourse - basically, the record never existed until we had a go! Does anybody have more info about this proposed event in Leicestershire? |
