Fuel Lift Pump 300Tdi

Hi All It was recommended to me to buy a Delphi lift pump as they were the original supplier to Land Rover and are the best pumps. I phoned my local parts supplier and they immediately said they don't stock them cos they fail and Brit part EM ones are much better. Is this right? anyone have any thoughts on this. I'm not a fan of Birtpart at all and don't know if they are bluffing as they are sponsored by Brit part or its true about modern Delphi's and thoughts gratefully received
