Beware of Britpart panhard rods...
I have been renewing my panhard rod bushes which is the later bigger diameter type and accidentally chipped a bit of the original rod away on removal, so I went and got a new rod as I wanted everything nice and shiny.

It's obviously not news that Britparts aren't generally recommended but in this case the gen part is out of stock and only Britparts was available. So I thought it was probably ok given it is a simple metal part. I also had the full superpro poly bush kit which I could replace the Britparts bushes with. Anyway, big mistake...

Got the new rod, pressed out the BP bushes pretty easily but the poly bushes won't go in easily like the usually do. Lots of fiddling and I got them in but wasn't 100% flush, that meant it was very hard to mount to the truck and in doing so I damaged the bush. So I thought perhaps the poly bushes weren't designed correctly and got some gen LR panhard bushes. Pressed it in about 80% and the rubber started squeezing out...

It then occurred to me perhaps the diameter of the hole is too tight. Measured the original rod and the new rod with a caliper and it was a full 1mm difference...

So anyway, my advice is, if using Britparts, just leave the BP bush in and replace the whole thing every so often. If not then measure the hole before attempting to press another bush in...

A mistake which so many have made! Never underestimate Britpart's ability to mess up a part of great simplicity. Big Cry

Yeah, I am looking out for a good condition second hand one now. But in the meanwhile have the Britparts with Britparts bushing on... Let's see how long this lasts... Rolling Eyes
