Mud flaps
l've just ordered a 90 Commercial and ticked the "classic mud flaps" option.

From the order it appears these are a dealer fit item. Do you think these are worthwhile? l was thinking they may reduce road muck and stones etc being flung up the sides of the vehicle.

l wasn't bothered about rear ones but they can only be ordered as a full set.

Has anyone got the "classic mud flaps" fitted? These are the larger flat ones and not the small ones. Do they require any drilling of the bodywork to fit?

l had front mud flaps fitted to my Transit Connect van and the clamps caused rust patches on the sills after a couple of years.

We have the classic flaps on our 110, they do a decent job of keeping the road crud off the paintwork, there are videos from Powerful UK showing the fitting procedures for the flaps:

I have the classic mud flaps fitted front and rear and the front ones do seem to keep the dirt of the front doors Thumbs Up Cheers Ian

Definitely worth it, best mud flaps I’ve had on a Land Rover

Some complain about pitting in the paint on the leading edge of the rear wheel fender when mud-flaps are NOT present. 2020 Defender 110 P400 HSE Santorini Black/Ebony

I have the classic ones in front. Didn't trust the original fixing screws, so I made a bit stronger fixation.
But...I should have not installed them if I knew what I know now. Why? I'm afraid they might get torn off in deep mud, frozen snow or sand. They are too rigid.
On the other hand...they look good Wink

That last point is very interesting. I’ve come close to having the flaps come off on my puma defender mudflaps, so on the same terrain are you thinking the new one would have ripped off?

I haven't done any serious offroading yet Embarassed but several times when driving over bigger and steeper bumps they touched the ground. No damage so far.
