Winch solenoid location?
Just looking for ideas where people who mount their winch solenoids separately to the winch mount them?

Cheers

Miffy has her's mounted next to the PAS reservoir and the wander lead connector is mounted on the blanked off wing vent.

Mine (TD5 90) is mounted on the nearside wing (UK).

This way it is high and out of the way of water and general road and off road muck.

Good luck

I also have a generic neoprene cover for the winch that i got off ebay, it does the job.

Ah you remind me I need to replace the winch cover. The last one fell apart due to sun damage. But, I came to check the winch yesterday and the rope is a HUGE block of ice... Rolling Eyes Balls... That s going to take some warming up... Rolling Eyes

That might be a good shout thanks. Have you got any photos for reference?

Cheers

No problem. You'll have to zoom in to see the wander lead socket in the vent. It is close enough to be able to have the winch controller easily inside the vehicle when required. The solenoid pack is up and out of the way of most of the dirty water and road salt and it is not covering 1/3 of the intercooler...

Thanks that's really helpful. Mines a Puma but might be able to do something similar. Thumbs Up

If you lift that blanked off wing vent there is quite a lot of room under there behind the headlight. Might be an out of the way place to put the solenoid with the wander lead socket close by.

Mine is under said wing blank. Easy access, well protected.
