mine is along the chassis leg via the existing holes in the battery box. Been there several years and through deep water and thick mud and has never been a problem. 2015 RRS Autobiography SDV6

Iād also put it in split or non split convoluted tubing for extra protection where possible and will offer extra protection from impact and abrasion.

I used 75mm^2 (high-flex arc welding) cable for power and ground running along the chassis and under the grille panel. The power cable is run in a (non-split) convoluted sleeve, the ground is not. There is a manual isolator in the cab, as well as an Anderson connector which allows the winch to be powered from an external battery isolated from the vehicle battery or the vehicle to be jumpered to another for winching or starting.

Pretty much the same as Blackwolf and others. Except that I have both a +ve and -ve cable that goes from the battery to the winch, no chassis earthing. This is as a consequence of the winch earthing through my old Defenders handbrake cable (which was engaged) when I had to ease a fellow off a rock. With the handbrake stuck on it was quite some time before I was mobile again. Since that time I have run directly back to the battery.

on all mine with winches run two cables back to battery along top of passenger side chassis rail, under foot well, then into battery box, no sleeving and no problems on any of them. under the grill to battery at the front. put the +ve through an isolator then to battery +ve Cheers
