Britpart door seals - review

I’ve seen the videos where people slag off the britpart seals, but at roughly 1/6 the cost I thought I’d give them ago… here are my observations:

Front door seals - these appear to be the old bearmach ones. They are made in India and are ok. The rubber is a little stiff, but the size and shape match the OEM seals that I removed.

However, I’m going to swap these out. My doors are perfectly adjusted and where as with the OEM seals I could push the doors shut, the Britpart ones require that I slam the door to get the second stage of the latch to engage. You could live with this, but I take our dogs out mega early and my neighbours would have a

if I kept slamming the doors early in the morning.

Rear door seal - made in china and are absolute gash. Really stiff, badly shaped, no flex in the metal reinforcement, not as wide (so there is a gap).

Again, I will be replacing.

General Britpart rant:

I just don’t understand why they can’t make decent parts. I would be happy to pay 2/3 times as much for stuff like seals (would still be a ~50% saving on OEM).

Conclusions:

Front door seals are probably ok. Rear door seal definitely not. 2011 CSW XS 90

Rubber parts in particular seem to be a problem for the aftermarket. Seals, bushes etc never seem right. I can only assume that in this regard the OEMs aren’t ripping us off and it costs OEM sort of money to get OEM sort of quality. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

This comes up time and again. Door seals are worth paying Genuine for.

I balked at the cost when I replaced mine but they fit perfectly, are supple and work exactly as they should.

Sh*tpart? Just say no!

Bite the bullet and bought some genuine seals - the rear door had developed a leak.

Massive improvement. Much softer, thicker and easier to fit.

Bought the Britpart stainless steel carpet rail for the rear edge as the existing one was rusted.

Actually fits really well and the screw holes line up (screws that came with it are too big

, but just used the old ones with a bit of ptfe tape). 2011 CSW XS 90
