Have a look at the OBD2Link MX+ https://www.obdlink.com/products/obdlink-mxp/
I have had the LX version for several years and gives great performance, but would purchase the MX+ now it’s available. They are a reputable company, provide their own software plus support all the other apps, have secure Bluetooth, and will power down when ignition off. I would not connect cheap Chinese EML327 readers to expensive vehicle ECU’s. Ps. If you do go down this route buy from an authorised seller, else you may end up with a fake one. |

Thanks, any advantage going for the iiDTool BT https://www.gap-diagnostic.com/products/iidtool/ over the OBD2 Link MX+ for a Defender Puma 2007?

The IIDTool is far superior, I would say the best non dealer diagnostics tool you can get for a defender.
Noting each licence for use is locked to a specific individual vehicle via its VIN. Hence it is expensive but if you only want to use the tool on your own vehicle I would say it’s a perfect choice for you. The OBDLink mx+ is a great generic code reader for any OBD2 compliant vehicle and you can use it on as many vehicles as you like. However its capabilities do not come close to the specific defender functions the IIDTool has. |

IID is really good. Keep an eye out and you can pick them up second hand for about £300. Added bonus is that you can also add and remove BAS remaps using it if you decide to go that route. |
