MT82 Gearbox requires oil that meets Ford WSD-M2C200-C specifications. At least this is what is stated in the workshop manual.
I use Castrol Transmax Manual Multivehicle 75W-90 (which replaces Castrol Syntrans Multivehicle 75W90), just because it says it meets this spec on the box. It gives me peace of mind… /Mat |

MTF was used in earlier boxes but not in the MT82 in Puma engined vehicles. Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought!" - Princess Leia |

Ford WSD-M2C200-C is PAO based. You can get away with non PAO based oil meeting 75w90 visc and GL-4 rating. Just need to change it more often. Puma 110" SW

I plan on replacing the gearbox/axle oils as part of my upcoming Service B but not sure if the drain plugs must also be replaced as done when changing the engine oil....any advice would be much appreciated!

You do not need to put purchase new drain or filler plugs. Unless you plan an upgrade in plug type.

Many thanks! Also, from what I've read, it seems that the filler plug level should be used for the transfer box and axles whereas the gearbox needs a specific amount of oil. Is this correct?

Yes that is correct unless you have a proper Defender
