Can I allow the boot to be opened from inside the car?
Hi everyone.

Is there any way I can allow others to open the boot when I'm in the driver's seat? I'm finding that I have to stop the car and open the boot myself from the outside, rather than releasing the boot from inside the car.

Many thanks.

I’ve found that it is impossible to open the rear door whilst the engine is running even if the central locking unlock button has been pressed. Guess this is a security thing to stop anyone opening the door when stationary with the engine running. 110 XS 250 MY 23 Gondwana Stone, Cold climate pack and towbar

Thanks for the replies. Yes, it's a shame there isn't an internal boot release button. Makes the dropping off or picking up of someone who needs to get something out or put into the boot very challenging.

you can.

Rear Door Internal Release Tap-in Loom for Land Rover Defender L663

This listing is for a rear door release tap-in loom for the Land Rover Defender L663.

This loom allows you to install an internal switch to open the rear door from the inside of the vehicle.

or you can buy the kit with a switch !

Locate the switch where ever you want, if you wire a second switch in parallel, one can be on the dash and one on the door itself.

You can but only if it’s in park. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

as the driver, the vehicle should be in Park, to allow a passenger to alite then, if necessary, open the boot door.

Sometimes drivers need a Karnaugh Map to drive these vehicles.

What's the score with the Commercial version? l've got a 90 on order, l assume that if for some reason you (or someone) shut the back door while you were in the load compartment, you'd be able to get out.

lf not, l can see that being potentially dangerous because unless someone let you out or you had a remote, you'd be stuck in there until the air ran out.

you would need to clamber over the seats to get to one of the front doors to open it.

or fit the switch option by Powerful.

I believe the commercial Defenders have a switch in the rear to open the door from inside as standard, as in the 90 you couldn't crawl over the seats as the bulkhead is in the way. Cheers Ian
