Only downsides apart from possible weather would be some “tourist attractions” maybe shut for the winter and the short days with regards to light

That’s a good point about things being shut.
chamonix / good idea. We could go skiing at the same time. I suspose there isn’t much off-road that time of year due to snow ? |

How about Devon? Lots of little lanes to explore, may be even a bit of snow on the top of Dartmoor or Exmoor. A bracing walk on the beach. There's plenty of holiday cottages to rent with a log burner for cosy nights in.

Ireland,
Absolutely brilliant Lots of rough roads to explore The kids will love the wild freedom, the beaches are fantastic and the Giants Causeway is magical. Went last month desperate to get back. Be prepared to get the truck mobed by US tourists Oh, they drink a dark beer that is very good. |

Shout out for North Wales, in particular Llangollen, Ceiriog valley, vale of Clwyd and Snowdonia
More lanes than you can shake a stick at. Bison farm, horse drawn canal boats, Christmas special trains, mountain biking at Betsy, wild camping and a heap of other tourist attractions. Plus me, of course... |
