Has anybody had any problems with brake judder? I have a D200 MY2022 (Sept. 2021 delivery) which has done just under 9K miles and it has started to judder when braking. I dropped into our local service centre and they agree it is brake judder and it needs a new set of front pads and discs. They have said that Land Rover won't entertain as a warranty claim and it is going to cost £897.00 for a new set of pads and discs. Now before I get onto customer services at Land Rover I was curious to see if anybody else had a similar problem and what was the outcome. Cheers Ian

from what im told this is a common issue as lr changed suppliers/ material specs . they should change it under warranty if you complain. plenty of the owners groups have had this issue.

Is that £900 for all 4 corners or just the fronts?

If this is a normal road use non towing vehicle that is an appalling call from the dealer.
I would be asking them to submit the warranty claim and let Land Rover make the decision. Land Rover should at very least contribute as this isn’t considered normal or acceptable wear and tear on a modern high class vehicle A call to LR customer services would also be my approach. Been through this, they won’t entertain a warranty claim in my case, due to age and mileage. Mine started doing it around 20k miles, now at nearly 40k and still there. It’s due to uneven deposition of friction material on the discs, caused by either poor materials or heavy breaking followed by holding them on. Or both
I’ve got a set of discs and pads ready to fit myself when I get around to it. |

In regard to the Warranty issue, I had warped discs on my Toyota RAV4 (many years ago) and the dealer replaced them under warranty with no quibbles. So, I'd say the discs should be a warranty item at the least. Current vehicle: 2020 Defender 110S

I’ve had it on my D300 X, dealer was (and always is) brilliant, changed all brakes on car under warranty without an issue. I actually didn’t expect them all being changed, it went in for investigation on the issue and I got a call to say it was being done. Was roughly at about 9 months, 9000 miles - maybe slightly less. My 90 went in for its first 20k service yesterday, the main dealer agreed to replace the front discs under warranty due to warped discs, but not the rear as they are corroded and that isn’t covered by the warranty apparently. Time is precious, waste it wisely...

Thanks Hissinsid & Blacksheep, I rang customer services and they were useless and they would just say brakes are not covered, however many miles you have done and it it up to the dealer to investigate and if it is covered by the warranty they will replace them! I said I wanted to take it further and they said it would have to go into a dealer to be examined. I went back to my dealer who said the only way they will do it is to pay up front the £900, they will try and claim them on warranty but they have said it will probably just be rejected. I've been away for just over a week and it seems to be getting more noticeable so I am going to take it into a different dealer and see what they say. It started at around 8500 miles and now has about 9500 miles on it. Cheers Ian
