Hi all,
Just a quick question, I have a 1984 3.5L V8 petrol 110. When I put the key in and turn it I need to let the fuel pump prime up a bit before I start it . I can hear a rapid ticking that then goes to a slower ticking. It then almost always starts first time. When I am stopped at an intersection I can still hear the tick on the fuel pump. My question is.... is this normal? Cheers Tim Series II in pieces 1984 Defender 110 (3.5l V8 now 300TDI) |

Yeah, it's pretty normal. My old Stage 1 V8 used to do exactly the same thing. Fuel pumps of that era operate around what is basically a set of points and the ticking is them making and breaking contact. THANKS for the feedback, nothing was really wrong but there are no many new noises in this "new" 1984 truck.....
I have the carbs not EFI - I think they are SU (with the two top hat type top cover on the carbs) Ill just keep putting along.... Cheers Tim Series II in pieces 1984 Defender 110 (3.5l V8 now 300TDI) |
